Over 27 years turning ideas into effective visual solutions for national and international brands. Based in Almería, connecting creative strategy with flawless execution.
I'm Miguel Jiménez Oña, a creative and art director based in Almería, specialising in projects that demand both strategic thinking and creative excellence. I've spent 27 years working in visual communication. I've worked at top creative agencies in Barcelona, led projects for international brands across Europe and the United States, and since 2002 I've been running my own studio in Almería: imposible? comunicación.
What defines me isn't just what I know how to do — it's how I do it: with strategy, with judgement, and with the genuine commitment that only comes from someone who understands that behind every project there's a specific goal to achieve.
My career began in 1998 as a freelancer in Barcelona, and I quickly moved on to the agencies where the most exciting design work was happening. At Doubleyou — one of Spain's leading references in interactive and digital design — I worked with brands such as Audi, Deutsche Bank, Evax, Seat and San Miguel. Later, working for other agencies, I handled projects for Bacardi, Martini, Samsung, Banco Sabadell Atlántico, Durex and Ferrero, among others.
Those years taught me to work to a genuinely high standard, to stand behind ideas in front of major clients, and to understand that good design isn't what the designer likes — it's what works for the person receiving it.
In 2010 I had the opportunity to take charge of Cosentino's creative department in the United States, working with their team in Houston. Contributing to the visual communication of brands such as Silestone, ECO and Sensa in the North American market broadened my understanding of what it means to design for global audiences with very different sensibilities.
Since 2002, my studio has been the place where everything comes together: graphic design, editorial, web, branding, advertising and digital marketing. I've worked for local councils, financial institutions, pharmaceutical companies, publishers, transport companies and consumer brands. Small projects and large-scale ones. One-off clients and collaborations that have lasted years.
Among them, Grupo Cajamar — one of the ten largest cooperative financial institutions in Spain — for whom I have designed their sustainability reports since 2019. A project that has been repeated every year because the results work, and because trust is the foundation of everything else.
I've received, among others, two of the most prestigious awards in creative communication: a Silver at the Cannes Lions and a Gold at El Sol de San Sebastián, both for projects for Audi. I don't mention them to impress, but because they speak to something concrete: that the work I produced in those years met the standards of the industry's most demanding juries.
Between 2002 and 2009 I combined my professional work with teaching at two highly regarded design schools: ESDI (Escola Superior de Disseny, Barcelona), where I taught Digital Art and Interface Design, and the Escola d'Arts i Tècniques de la Moda (EATM, Barcelona), on their Master's in Styling and Image Consultancy. Teaching forced me to better understand what I was doing — and that's always a gift.
My background isn't limited to design. I have studies in fashion design and pattern making, an active practice as a visual artist — murals, exhibitions, performances — and I facilitate processes of creativity and self-awareness through art. All of this coexists with my work as a designer and enriches it in ways that are hard to find in a purely technical profile.
If you're curious about how that artistic dimension translates into concrete results for design projects, you can find out more in the Art & Design section.
I work with a small number of clients at a time, because I value genuine commitment over production-line work. Every project starts with listening, understanding the context, and understanding who it's aimed at. What comes next — the design, the strategy, the execution — flows from threre.
I'm based in Almería, but I work with clients all across Spain. If you have a project that calls for creative judgement, editorial experience, or simply good design with clear ideas, let's talk.
